Notes: Originally from Barbara Steppel. Makes 4-5 dozen cookies (depends on how many Hershey Kisses are in the bag).

Ingredients

1 cup butter (2 sticks)

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 pkg. Hershey Kisses

confectioners sugar

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375.

2. Count the number of Hershey Kisses in the bag to know how to divide the dough. Unwrap Hershey Kisses while counting.

3. Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour, mixing well. Chill dough (make sure dough is COLD). Wrap balls of dough in plastic wrap, dividing dough equally so that 1 ball will be 1 dozen cookies.

4. One ball at a time (keeping the rest in the refrigerator), divide 1 ball of dough into 12 equal amounts. Shape dough around base of kisses, with tip of kiss poking out. Keep dough cold between batches.

5. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 for 10-12 min or until "set" but not brown. Cool slightly and roll each cookie in confectioners sugar.
