Notes: Originally Linda Armstrong Kelly's recipe.

Ingredients

1 stick softened butter

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 mashed bananas

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup buttermilk (no substitutes)

1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter, sugar, eggs, bananas, & vanilla. Mix buttermilk and baking soda together; add it to banana mixture. Gradually add flour & salt so flour doesn't clump. Finally, add chopped nuts. Pour batter into a greased and floured loaf pan & bake for 1 hour or until center is cooked per toothpick test.
