Split Pea and Ham Soup

Notes: Serve with fresh bread.


Ingredients

Ham bone with meat attached.

1 lb. diced ham

1 c. chopped onions

1 Tbsp. minced garlic

2 tsp. black pepper

1 lb. dried split peas

1 c. chopped carrots

optional: Manischewitz split pea seasoning tube

optional: 1 lb. dried lentils


Directions

Place everything in large pot. Add enough water to cover ham bone. Bring to a boil on High. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours. Taste for salt; often a ham bone is very salty so add water if needed.
