Note: when it says to alternately add cocoa and milk, I just measure out the complete amounts of both in two bowls, and alternate adding powdered sugar and milk in small amounts, for example: mix butter and cocoa then add a little powdered sugar, beat, then a Tblsp of milk, then beat, then a little more powdered sugar, beat, etc., until all of it is mixed in. From the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder box, but will work with any brand of cocoa powder.

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine

2/3 cup cocoa powder

3 cups powdered sugar

1/3 cup milk at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.
